I'm fascinated by the way authors (and their readers and illustrators) visualize the characters and worlds they write about. I began this project in an informal way a few years back, when I realized that many of P. G. Wodehouse's Jeeves stories and books were originally illustrated, particularly those that were published in magazines. I decided to start collecting these illustrations and compiling them as a resource for others who share my interest. While many of Wodehouse's other stories were also illustrated, the Jeeves stories hold a special place in my heart, and this website will focus on those in particular.
In addition to illustrations, I'll also discuss visual descriptions and references in the texts of the stories themselves and related materials (e.g. the letters of P. G. Wodehouse) and representations of the characters and settings in other visual media, such as film and TV adaptations.
My goal for this site is simply to collect and share visual information about these characters and their world. I hope others will find it useful and enjoyable. I don't own any of these images or the words of P. G. Wodehouse, and I make every attempt to cite my sources as thoroughly as possible.
